The above google drive contains all of the relevant rulebooks needed for game, along with the .txt character sheet referenced in Characters & Creation, and a repository of character art for tokens. These resources are freely available for you to use

Core Rulebooks

In the Google Drive mentioned above, there are a large number of rulebooks, however only two of them are vital for you to read for the sake of gameplay.

BattleMech Manual – A streamlined rulebook focused exclusively on 'Mech combat, covering movement, combat mechanics, and equipment used by BattleMechs. It does not include rules for vehicles, infantry, or non-'Mech units. Players interested in combined-arms warfare should refer to Total Warfare for core rules on all unit types, while other books expand on optional rules Total Warfare (TW) will have simplified copies of these rules, along with all the optional/house rules we use.

A Time of War (ATOW) – The core rulebook for roleplaying in the BattleTech universe, covering all of the RPG centric rules, with the “ATOW: Companion” book adding bonus content.

Please note: a large number of rules regarding character creation and ATOW-scale combat have been changed. You do not need to read certain sections of this book. The changed rules are covered Characters & Creation or A Time of War (ATOW) in this notion.

Character Art

⚠️You only need character art once your character sheet has been approved⚠️

For this game we use a mix of 2D character tokens for Discord RP posting, and 3D models for Talespire ATOW RPG encounters. There are some free resources that we’ve collated for ease of use.

2D Token Art

For 2D art, you are free to use any artwork you find, create, or generate with AI—except for art already claimed by another character, which is off-limits. We do not discriminate against AI-generated art for character portraits.

The GM has a collection of portraits available, though quality may vary. No matter the source, your chosen art should provide a clear, unobstructed view of the face, avoiding side profiles or excessive visual clutter.

For token sizing, the ideal framing is from just above the top of the head down to the collarbones to ensure clarity at scale.

Token Color-Coding: To improve readability in threads, character tokens follow a color-coded system:
